AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries are the most modern variant of the lead acid battery. In them, the electrolyte is bound in fiberglass fleece. The result is low self-discharge, meaning they only need to be recharged every six months if the battery is not stored above 20°C.

Additionally, AGM batteries are tip- and leak-proof and can be installed in virtually any position, which is especially advantageous for motorcycles.

Another advantage: unlike gel, fleece slows down the flow of ions much less. This means that AGM batteries can be charged faster with a stronger current than gel batteries and, due to the lower internal resistance, can supply correspondingly larger amounts of current to the consumer if necessary.
